What is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding. The Government believes that it is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disavantages reaches the pupils who need it the most.
Eligibility for the Pupil Premium remains for pupils who have been eligible FSM at aany point in the last 6 years.
Schools are required to publish online information about how they used the Premium and the impact it has had. This is to ensure that parents and others are fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium. This information incudes:
At Andover CE Primary School we believe every child is entiled to learn free from deprivation and disadvantage. By knowing each and every individual child and indentifying their barriers to learning we are able to secure higher levels of attainment for all children.
Since 2011/12 schools have received Pupil Premium Funding. The amount of funding is determined directly by the number of ‘looked after children’, children receiving free school meals and children of service families.
We continually strive to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all our pupils. Our ambition is to ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups and that the needs of disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.
We recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged and that not all pupils who are disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. Therefore when allocating funding we use a wide range of criteria.
