Morning Maths

Can you work out the answers to the questions and find the two imposters who have the incorrect answers?

Your spellings this week are words from the Year 5 and 6 spelling list. Use the strategies in the pack to help you practice them. On Friday, you will be tested on them.

The words this week are:

accommodate     accompany     according      achieve     aggressive     amateur     ancient     apparent     appreciate     attached     available     average

Today’s aim: write a recount.

First, watch this video, which recaps what a recount is. This will help you with your task.

Then, write a letter or diary entry to recount your exploration of Pandora. Use the work from the rest of this week to help you. Can you include all of the things below?

  • I can correctly use full stops and capital letters.
  • I can write in the past tense.
  • I can use figurative language such as a simile.
  • I can write in the first person.
  • I can include a range of adjectives.

Complete the 12 in 10 activity first.

Today’s aim: draw angles.

Watch the video below to find out about the correct way to use a protractor to draw an angle.

Then, complete the two tasks. Use a ruler or protractor to draw your angles. Choose the reasoning task based on how well you understood the video and how confident you feel.

Guided Reading

The book you will be reading is called Jazz Harper: Space Explorer. This week, you will be concentrating on Chapter 3.

Today’s task: complete the pronoun task.

Have a go at the challenges on the cards in the pack. How many times can you complete each exercise in 5 minutes? Can you do it again to beat your score?
